How MP3's Work and Why Get Legal Ones
MP3 files were initially created to only be used in
computers. That didn't last for long. Within a short amount
of time, they started popping up in cars, MP3 players, and in iPods.
This article will get you better acquainted with what MP3 files are and
how they are used.
MP3s were originally developed to connect audio with video. An MP3 is simply
a digital file that represents sound. You can create an MP3 by sampling any
sound and recording it to a digital file. Sampling is done by taking
thousands of bits of sound and then selecting every third bit of sound to go
into your MP3 file. That's a rough defenition, but you get the point.
The actual sampling process is what creates an mp3 or mp4 file.
Because MP3 files are made with the sampling process, you can fit hundreds
and hundreds of songs onto you iPod or MP3 player. If sampling didn't
occur, none of this would be possible because the MP3 file would just be too
big.
Sampling of music files can be done at any speed, but there are standard
speeds used for mp3s and mp4s. Be careful to not get illegal copies of
MP3 files though. They are not safe, and illegal for another thing. The
best way to get MP3's is to actually purchase them through a well known and
reputable company. If you absolutely have to have a given song and the
only place you can find it is with a company that you've never heard of, do
some research on them. Find out if they are trustworthy enough to get
your business.
I
cannot stress to you enough how important it is to not get illegally created
or pirated copies of MP3 files. These files are not only free, but
they are also full of viruses. Although you may be saving money on the
MP3 file itself, you could be spending a lot of money fixing your computer
or whatever device you use after the virus has done its job. Like I
said before, do some research and find out where there are some safe places
to get your MP3's from. |
